What's the difference between hi and low density rams and is there a difference in performance?

That just means the miniaturization process is smaller.

And in general when that's done to a integrated circuit you need less electromagnetic energy to keep it going at the same speed as before., As well it generates less heat at the same clock speed.
offten times you can one up the speed on the same integrated circuit design after a shrink.

And or it could simply mean stuffing more transistor count in the same space that the old integrated circuit use to take up.
