My System Specs

Default Corsair Vengeance RAM with ASUS z68 v-pro board

When using the ASUS p8z68 v-pro board, which memory would you recommend?
Corsair CMZ8GX3M2A1866C9 Vengeance 8GB 2X4GB DDR3-1866 CL9-10-9-27 Memory Kit - DirectCanada
or
Corsair CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9 Vengeance 8GB 2X4GB DDR3-1600 CL9-9-9-24 Dual Channel Memory Kit - DirectCanada
or
Corsair CMZ8GX3M2A1600C8 Vengeance 8GB 2X4GB DDR3-1600 CL8-8-8-24 Dual Channel Memory Kit - DirectCanada

Would I see a big difference in performance on this board from 1600 to 1866 Mhz?
And what's the difference between CL8-8-8-24 and CL9-9-9-24 and CL9-10-9-27?

Thanks

From what I understand your human eye and brain will not notice any difference in the differences but benchmarks and some programs will, however minor that may be? I have been reading a bit on ram lately because I had the same questions and I am looking for a new kit.

I think the 1600 CL9 will be fine especially if you are on a budget.

Read this CAS latency - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

And then read this Memory timings - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

And then this
DDR3 SDRAM - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Apparently there's 1.25 ns (1.25x10^-9 seconds) difference in the latency of the two 1600 mhz kits, and the 1866 kit has ~ 10 ns (estimating, I am in a hurry and can't do the calc)

Hope this helps!

so for gaming purposes, just the 1600 Mhz would be enough?

Yes definitely. I have the vengeance 1600 but for some reason my motherboard keeps setting it to 1333 and it is totally fine. BF3 runs nice and smooth at 1920x1200. Like said before. No way is my eye or brain going to notice the diff.
