Low DDR3 prices, need advice

Ok folks, DDR3 prices are very low right now, the lowest I have seen since I started paying attention to computer hardware prices. I see these sales on NCIX for 8GB of hyper X for 50 bucks and it makes me want to buy some. I will be upgrading down the road to either a Z68 board or AM3+ depending on how things go. I think I read that AM3+ supports 1600mhz RAM, but I am unsure what LGA1155 supports, and also, is Ivy Bridge going to be on 1155 as well, and what speed will it support.

To summerize, I want to buy RAM now that I will probably use in a build sometime before Christmas, what speed should I get to take advantage of whatever is the latest tech down the road?

As I've heard, Ivy will use the same 1155 socket.
And about ram speeds, why not buy a 1600, so even if Ivy wont support it it'll run at 1333... not a big deal. :)

I respectfully disagree. If you're on a budget to pinch every last dollar, 1333 will do you just fine.

The cost difference between 1333 CL9 and 1600 CL9 is not that large and if you have the extra money you might have a better 'feeling' about your PC with the faster RAM.

Agreed. I always go w/ budget ram as it has almost zero affect on actual real world performance.

What I am looking for is advice on what the highest speed of RAM that will be supported on upcoming platforms will be. 1800? 1866? I am talking about stock without OC. If I am buying RAM now for a build down the road, I might as well get up to date.

You best pull out your magic eight ball or go talk to a psychic somewhere because nobody knows that answer.

You can look at the upcoming chips but I think honestly DDR3 is around for awhile and 1333 ram will be used for quite sometime since its now been used through 3 different chipsets.
