My System Specs

Question 8500 sticks?

What would be a great set of PC2-8500 ram, 2x1Gb to replace either my HP2s or the EM2s? Both are coupled to a Q6600 (for the time being - Q9450 ordered) and installed on either a P35C-DS3R, or the DS3L.

I've seen those 2:

http://www.ncix.com/products/index.p...8&promoid=1008

But like I said, I have the P35C-DS3R which can also use DDR3... and the Patriots from the Sponsored Deals are very tempting - but a different ballpark when it comes to budget:

Or if someone else has another idea....

John, from what I heard those Tracers run very hot.

What about getting a set of these. http://www.ncix.com/products/index.p...acture=MUSHKIN

They aren't 1066 but they are 1000

You would be correct.

Tracers run extremely hot when you start putting voltage through them and additional cooling does not always work.

Default Crucial 8500s

I would be worried about running the crucial with that mobo. gigabyte don't list it as officially supported, which is ominous because they specifically do mention their Crucial 6400 support. so unless someone can confirm that it will work, be wary. if anyone knows, please post, because I want that same setup.

I wouldn't worry too much about the Official List of Supported Sticks. I never bothered checking, and all my sticks worked when installed on the board.

Jerry... Mushkin again? I've had a long time ago a set of DDR Redlines; probably the best sticks I ever had. They may be DDR2-1000, but I'm pretty sure they can scream even more. But what about DDR3? Those Patriots are very tempting...

John: Maybe I'm just brand loyal to Mushkin but it's a good price and the preform great from the reviews I've read, even the HWC review says they are great performers. Out of all the ram I've owned I've never had problems with Mushkin and they always perform great.

Regarding the DDR3, to me DDR3 is too new and I haven't seen a really performance gain. Besides if you buy the Patriots you are getting half the amount of ram at double the price, not to mention your board and processor aren't going to really utilize that ram at it's full potential.

Come you know you want those Redlines.

meh... you don't have to convince me about buying Mushkin again... check out my sig! I know the Redlines pretty well too. But DDR3? I think it can be used to its full potential - no software requires high-performance components like FAH. And coupled with my new Q9450, it could be amazing...

It could work out awesome, but that's a lot of money for 2GB of ram.

Let me know how they work out once you get them. Are you gong to be doing a work log on your new build once all the parts come in.

I'll let ya know how my buddy's OC goes on Monday.
