Default My new sticks!

w0000t! Here are my new sticks!

I'll let you know what these babies can do!

Update: This is what they do to me:

Let's hope they'll be a little better to me later on. Maybe they need to warm up?

Is that the ballistix in your sig?

If so, double check the default volts provided by the motherboard, and you might want to loosen up the timings to cas5 just to get started.... :)

I run mine at 2.2V 1170 freq 5-5-5-12...... :)

Yeah, those are the Tracers in my rig. I just took that pic. The signature was a goal of mine....I just achieved it! I was surprised though with how much trouble they gave me before I could start Vista up. I had 6(!)x BSOD!!! Never had any issues with OCZ.

Now they're running fine though....Still have to check what they are capable of!

What were you running the OCZ at?

I think you'll find lots of headroom on the crucial mem, although I suspect you won't get much more out of it @ CAS4.... :)

The OCZ was Plat Rev. 2 PC2-6400 and I had it running at 900 MHz @ 4-4-4-12 2t - 2.175V on a regular basis. For benching I was able to do 4-4-4-12-1t @ 2.3V

Nice ram you have there. Do the lights actually represent the load you're putting on the ram?

Which kit did you buy? I've found out through the past few months that Crucial uses the same binnings for the PC2-6400 and the PC2-8500 Ballistix and Tracers. In some cases, the PC2-6400's perform better for some odd reason.

Did you reset your CMOS before adding in the new sticks you got?

Also, "D9" chips can be anything by Micron. Not all "D9's" are good performers, such as the budget D9HNL's. Overclockers are looking for D9GMH, and D9GKX - although, I've steered away from that craze, because they are unreliable, even at low voltages.

The kit (Ballistix 8500) I bought for a customer does the same thing (BSODs, reboot loops) even when underclocked (950mhz at 2.1 - 2.2 volts, 5-5-5-15) ... I'm RMAing the kit, hopefully the replacements will turn out as incredible as everyone says !

Needless to say, I'm very dissapointed
