Default N00bie RAM Questions

OK, I know DDR3 is supposed to be at 1.65V, but why are some modules lower and some higher? For example, theses: Newegg.ca - G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL are at 1.5V. How does this affect performance?

It all depends on what speeds they rate the ram at. The higher the clock, and tigher the timings the more voltage you need. That kit there is really designed for AM3 and i5 in mind with their IMC's and such. 1.5v is nominal for those (IIRC at least). I'm no RAM expert by any stretch.

Where as (my i7 kit for example) needs 1.65v to run at its proper settings.

if you want something that's tight and precise go with ECC ram, that's if your motherboard supports it.
