Mushkin has been out of the scene basically ever since MushkinGreg, the Canadian PR/rep guy, left. I haven't had Mushkin mentioned since then.

Mushkin was done before then as their prices were higher compared to comparable memory.

When Greg left it just sealed the deal,

Nah, Mushkin Memory took a big leap ahead when all the issues with Corsair and their line of memory took 3 tries to get proper.

Mushkin memory overclocked fairly well and people were able to get decent clocks out of them.

I bought because i always bought OCZ since my local suppliers carried them mostly. But after seeing Greg i wanted to try something new and Mushkin was it. He helped me as well to setup the ram to my motherboard.

Sadly this seems to be true> The Mushkin memory is quite expensive these days. Hell I bought a pair of redlines for $69.99 1 year and half ago. When I was purchasing my new DDR3 the OCZ Black Edition which had better timings, compatiblility for AM3 1600+ and overclocking, Cost less $40 less than the Mushkin equivalent.

Mushkin isn't dead, they just released some new Blackline units.

I think it's because Mushkin is more EU oriented, so their products don't come over to NA very frequently. My thoughts at least.

From my experience, Corsair's expensive memory tends to have a lot of RMAs, among other brands.
G.Skill has a very good track record, considering how many of their kits are sold. (think of 'em like the .12 of Seagate)
Mushkin has an elite track record, granted they don't sell as much as G.Skill. I'm using Mushkins right now!

To the op, high speed overclocking DDR2 ram is nearing it's life span. It's all about the DDR3 now, baby.
