DDr3 worth the extra money for motherboard/ram

thanks for all the input guys. leaning towards ddr3 setup unless i really cheap out and go x2 processor but even then we'll see if any ddr2 bargains pop up. Find it odd how ddr2 keeps going up in price, thought it would be liquidation time for ddr2

totally not worth it, memory has very little impact while gaming, only needed if your a heavy bencher or do a lot of compression/rendering

I'm guessing he's already purchased his RAM since this thread is 23 days old, but even so it IS worth it to get DDR3 since prices between the two are pretty much dead even right now. You could probably even find some cheaper 4gb DDR3 sets over DDR2.

yeah, i already got ram. 2x2 g of patriot viper ddr3 1600mhz 7-7-7-20 with asus m4a785td-v evo and a 550 BE

haven't used it yet as my psu and case are still in the mail

Considering DDR 2 prices for ram are not any cheaper than comparable ram for ddr3 you might as well stick with the later since it's more future proof.
