Judging by the latencies, they're pretty closely matched.... :)

With any luck, somebody will know what chips are used in each one and have a suggestion on the better of the two.

Where are you ordering from? If it comes down to price don't forget that you'll save the PST ordering from outside of the province that you're in.

Just a quick search shows that this set Mushkin HP PC2-6400 HP2-6400 2GB 2X1GB DDR2-800 CL4-4-4-12 240PIN DIMM Dual Channel Memory Kit - DirectCanada is more than likely the newer of the two.

Can't say how well they'd overclock. There are no reviews I could find on them (looks like they're brand new this month.... :) ), but they look like they're almost identical to the other set which are elpida based.

Another quick look on the older set seem to show them doing better at sub 1000 clocks, but again that's just a quick look.... if it were me, I'd do a bit more googling of overclocking reviews.... :)

i have some of the 4-5-4-11 running on a ds3R - it doesn't seem to oc really high but i can't say i have found what its limit is either.

i have it running (folding ie stable) at 925 at stock timings with 2.2v.

I couldn't get it to post at 1110 ( the next ratio up) at 5-5-5-12 with 2.3V but i didn't play with looser timings with it or giving it more v.

I would guess if your fsb gets you other speeds with the ratios that it might run higher than the 925 i have it at but i just haven't used it much on other rigs/speeds yet.

Lemme guess the "High Performance" is more expensive? They are pretty much the same identical ram and I'm gonna say with some luck you can probably get the non-high performance to run at the same timings.

Its a marketing gimmick like ATI or SLI ready memory.

Did you buy them new? If so, you should be looking at an RMA rather than new mem. I can see picking up another set to do you while the RMA happens, but other than that you should have no problem getting them replaced.

I have the Mushkin HP2 mixed with my Dominators for 4GB. All run at 4-3-3-9-2T 800MHz. 2.1V. Works fine.

As for the chips used, see: DDR2 RAM List

PC2-6400 HP2
991533 / 996533
4.0-5-4-11 @ 2.1 ~ 2.2V
Micron D9GMH (B6-3) Brainpower PCB
