Default OCZ gold vs. corsair XMS3

Hey guys,

Which one is overall better, the OCZ gold 6gb ddr3 or the Corsair XMS3 6gb ddr3.
From what i can tell they appear to be the same.

Newegg.com - OCZ Gold 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Low Voltage Desktop Memory Model OCZ3G1600LV6GK - Desktop Memory
Newegg.com - CORSAIR XMS3 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model TR3X6G1600C8 G - Desktop Memory

I plan to use the ram on the evga x58 3way sli motherboard.

Newegg.com - EVGA E758-A1 3-Way SLI (x16/x16/x8) LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard - Intel Motherboards

Also is the OCZ gold a good set of ram? Or do you suggest something else (same price range). I'm american thats why i post newegg links.

Thanks.

Honestly, if you're not going to be overclocking RAM, the OCZ's are a great choice. Well the Corsairs are too. Only problem with the OCZs in that line are that they run a little bit on the hot side, so as long as you have decent airflow you won't have any overheating problems. I have the Platinum versions and there really isn't much difference to them. You may be able to find a pair of 7-7-7-24 for around the same price for a VERY small boost in performance.

Excellent choice of board. I have that myself and runs like a dream. The only issue I've had with it is the very tall MOSFET heatsinks. Doing a push/pull configuration with my TRUEe ended up with the fans hitting the heatsinks. The fans are almost aligned properly, but they're up a little high by about 1/4" or so. No biggie though.

For all intents and purposes... they are identical.

Any ram worth getting over another set with be reflected in the price (i.e corsair dhx dominators)

I have the OCZ gold. The first set I received cannot do 1600. RMA was easy. Turned around was fast. The second set is now running at spec, 1600 @ 8,8,8,24 @1.64v. I do not plan to overclock the ram, so never paid attention to its temperature.
