Default GSkill Ripjaws and other i5 ram Questions

Basically a dumbass question but it needs to be asked.
I noticed that a lot of this ram is "Guaranteed" for use with P55 motherboards.

Like the ripjaws are:

Qualified Motherboards List
  • ASUS P7P55D Deluxe
  • ASUS P7P55D EVO
  • ASUS P7P55D Pro
  • ASUS P7P55D
  • MSI P55-GD65
  • MSI P55-GD80
  • Gigabyte GA-P55 UD4P
  • Gigabyte GA-P55 UD5
  • Gigabyte GA-P55 UD6

Does this mean they will only work, or are only tested and guaranteed to work with this motherboards?

They are only tested on those motherboards. Who knows if they work on others. It's up to you to figure that one out or listen to others.

99.9% they'll work fine on any P55 motherboard.

RAM compatibility isn't nearly as bad as it used to be.

But, will they work on an AM3 board?

So let's talk about those G.Skill Ripjaws a bit. Awesome pricing over at NCIX! Anybody know what this set will do?

Memory clocking with Lynnfield is on the mind-boggling side of insane. That's all I can say right now.

Should we run and purchase this set for our regular DDR3 boards (LGA775/AM3/LGA1366) as well?

I see no issue with that but getting the memory controller on an AMD processor to run DDR3-2000 speeds is very, very hard IMO.
