Get Patriot Ram

Hi all, new to the forum and would like to ask few questions about buying some new memory.

1. Looking at the Patriot Extreme Performance DDR2 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC2-8500 Eased Latency DIMM Kit (PDC22G8500ELK) is this good enough memory for a midrange gaming system (dont have all my parts yet and am just asking about memory right now)

2. There are mail in rebates at NCIX and CanadaComputers. The initial price comes out cheaper at Canadacomputers and was just wondering if NCIX has both GST and PST ? (i live in ontario)

If anyone has any other suggestions, my ears are open (140 - 190 price range)

Since they are based in BC, you will not be charged PST on your purchase. (Those of us from the maritime provinces still get stuck paying the full HST.... :( ).

I've never used patriot memory myself, but they appear to have a good name and since you are going for PC2 8500 you should have no problems with them at all.

If you're looking for other suggestions... check out what the current pricing of the crucial Balistix PC2 8500 is. The current batch seems to OC quite well. (I've just got mine up to 1260).

I believe taxes are determined by what province you order from. If you live in a PST province, you pay PST. No?

Nope, the only folks who have to pay PST are those from the same province as the business. Those from a different province only pay GST, but since the HST is a blend of PST and GST it must be paid no matter what province a person is ordering from.

I bought to NCIX, I'm in Ontario, I only paid GST...

I dont remember ever paying more than GST since Ive lived in Cgy no matter where I ordered from. But I just looked at a ncix receipt and it says "No PST - Outside BC residents" so I guess u are right. :)
