Default Crucial service - Outstanding

Not much of a point to this post - just want to extoll the virtues of Crucial service :)

Well as I type this there is a parcel in a plane somewhere over the USA with my name on it :)

Back in the days of yore when S939 ruled the earth I purchased 4 x 512mb stix of Crucial Ballistix Tracer PC4000 for about $600 . I loved this RAM as I had 4 stix running at 2-2-2-6 T2, it ran rock solid and was the coolest looking RAM on the planet. Well all good things must come to an end and back in April all 4 sticks died within 2 weeks of each other . I don't know what went wrong but my PSU and mobo seem fine with the generic RAM I've had in there since so... I dunno.

So with lifetime warranty it's time to try the dreaded service RMA. The entire experience with them was amazing. I told them that when the RAM died I ordered a complete new C2D rig and that the DDR1 RAM wasn't really of use to me at this point so I wanted to see if I could RMA for 2 gig of DDR2 instead. Thwy said that I couldn't RMA for different RAM other than the stuff I was returning but insead they could offer me in-store credit for the current maket value of the RAM = WooHoo!

So I sent them the dead RAM...

On Monday I decided to use the in-store credit and so the parcel on the aforementioned plane now has 4 x 1Gb stix of Ballistix Tracer PC6400, 2 crucial baseball caps and a 2Gb SD card that didn't cost me a penny (the in-store credit also paid for the shipping and tax). I'm having it shipped to a relative in Ohio and he will mail it to me so I'll avoid tax and customs as well (because it's an in-store credit rather than a straight RMA I would've been dinged at the border).

Everyone I talked to at Crucial during this whole process were friendly and eager to offer soloutions that suited me

Yummm... pretty blinkie lights in my PC once again :)

I recently had to RMA some ballistix 6400 ... although i was not pleased that i had to rma it (first ram RMA i have ever had to do out of ~ 25-30 kits, mostly ocz, some corsair, a little mushkin and pqi).

But the service was excellent, and despite their warning that I would get dinged for customs since i had not bought it directly from them, there was nothing to pay on my part other than shipping them the dead sticks

I have ALOT of crucial ram...

Service is excellent.

RMA time, through biggest local retailer...7 weeks.

Direct to Crucial, no cross-ship, new ram was in my hands in 5 days.
