As in you wouldn't mix them in the same bank? Or not even in the same PC at all?

I might try running my current RAM at 1.65v - if it WILL run fine at that voltage, would you think mixing (just within the same PC, not the same bank) RAM would be fine to try then?

Depending on what triple channel kits are costing when I do decide to upgrade, I might just buy dual channel kits to avoid the headache.

Yes, I would say it is unwise to mix 2 sticks from a triple channel kit with 2 sticks from a dual channel kit. There is too much diff in the voltage. Assuming the board will run low voltage mem, you could buy two tri kits and run 4x2GB in one PC and 2x2GB in the other and sell the duals. Or just but another dual.

You can certainly try running 1.65v and mixing but Im betting you get no post.

Thanks for the advice. If we had a third DDR3 rig running, it wouldn't be a big deal, but the other PC's in the house are old and running DDR. I think I'll just keep my eyes open for well priced dual channel kits.
