1.65v is the safe max suggested by Intel. Beyond 1.65v you risk damaging the processor.


Those parts Flasker posted were made specifically for the Core i7 and its voltage requirements. People have occasionally tried running non-i7 parts on these boards with limited success. The IC's used on the Core i7 parts (998xxx) have been tested to respond better to the lower voltage requirements. Its not really advised that you try running any of the performance parts out there with a max voltage rating higher than 1.65 on a core i7.

Its depressing how much you Mushkin guys have dropped the prices on your high-end ram in the last few months

I have to say, that is the first time I have heard a customer complain that prices have dropped :)

Yeah, DDR3 has come down dramatically in the last 6 months. It was really the same way when DDR2 was new as well. Really expensive for a while, then massive price drops. I remember when a kit of 996599 (2x2GB DDR2-1066) was about $150 USD.
