Default Ddr2 recommendations

Availability seems to be a bit of a problem with some manufacturers or resellers of DDR2 memory. Looking for recommendations good quality memory 900 mhz and 1100 mhz. G Skill is available but never used them before.

900 MHz is an odd spec to be after.

I would say you should look for some 800 or 1066 parts that have some overclocking headroom.

As far as 1100Mhz, I know thats getting harder to do these days with the phasing-out of 64x8 chips. Obviously my first reccomendation is going to be something like 996599 or 996580.

In the name of impartiality, I will say that G.Skill seems to be a good brand, their testing standards are pretty good from what I have seen/heard, and they seem to make a good product. While we here at the Mushkin office are obviously a bit biased, I will say that we respect G.Skill for making a good product. :)

Thxs for the reply Nick. Both part #"s very low in stock, don"t want to get caught waiting for new order to come in if my order can"t be filled. Mushkin is very good at making memory sticks but as I said hard to find lately.

Yeah I would go with any DDR2 PC8000 set and then just underclock for that 900mhz, you may even manage to tighten the timings from CL5 to CL4. As for G.Skill I and a few of my friends have all used their ram and have been quite happy with it, its cheap, overclocks well and is stable. Honestly I will pretty much only buy mushkin or G.Skill ram, they are both very good quality brands. Last I checked Directcanada had

Mushkin XP PC2-8000 Redline 4GB 2X2GB DDR2-1000 CL5-5-5-12 240PIN Dual Channel Memory Kit - DirectCanada Redlines on for $74 with their shinny red skins

and

G.SKILL F2-8500CL5D-4GBPK PC2-8500 4GB 2X2GB DDR2-1066 CL5-5-5-15 240PIN Dual Channel Memory Kit - DirectCanada G.Skills 8500s on for $64 in that nice aqua blue =D

I just ordered most of my last PC from DC and I was extremely happy with their service, they didnt ship me a video card and I managed to get ahold of them the first buisness day after the weekend and get it sorted out, I had my video card within 3 buisness days.

EDIT: just clicked on the link Encore sent you, WOW thats a good price. is that in USD or cnd?

ddr2-1000 or pc2-8000 will generally run at 600-800mhz by default if you run a 1:1 FSB. If you want more than that it'll require you to overclock your cpu.

A lot of people can actually run ddr2-800 pc2-6400 memory as like I said unless you do serious overclocking you don't see much fsb's over 800mhz
