Default Mushkin 6GB DDR3-1600 vs. Corsair 6GB DDR3-1600

I've been looking into both these sets, the Mushkin is $40 more and it has tighter timings (7-8-7-20) and...well...it's Mushkin!

But the Corsair is $40 less, in stock, has a heatsink with fins, but looser timings (8-8-8-24).

Links:

Corsair DDR3-1600 8-8-8-24

Mushkin DDR3-1600 7-8-7-20

My question is NOT which one is better, but if it is worth it for the timings, and the reliability?

Between those two the Corsair looks the be a better option and that would be what I would buy if I didn't get my Aeneons at $300. I would look at the G.Skills too. The Coke bottle kit is pretty cheap and the Pi Blacks can be had for around $300 at Newegg.

Corsair FTW. Corsair's sticks are a little nicer looking, cheaper, and have PROVEN support staff behind them. With Greg no longer with Mushkin, I would no longer recommend Mushkin till his replacement proves as competent as he was. We don't know what his replacement will be like in the service department, RMA's, support, etc. IMO Greg gleft some BIG shoes to fill.

Besides, who doesn't love support staff who are named RedBeard and YellowBeard!

I wouldn't count Greg out at Mushkin yet. I have not used the DDR3 kits yet but the Mushkin's have been the best ram I have ever purchased, and I have tried most companies.

Right, I forgot that Greg left...too bad, that sucks. The reason I say that it's mushkin is because every mushkin set I've had, which is around 6 or so, all still work, but they don't have a computer to work in.

Soo...the almost general consensus is to go with the Corsair...because it has better heatsinks. I'm not asking which is better, I'm asking if I should spend the money to get the tighter timings!

Get the one with voltage closer to 1.5V at DDR3-1600 speed.

Yeah thats right...the i7 cpus don't like the higher voltage ram as it can damage the onboard memory controller.

Woah, get this: They're BOTH at 1.65v, which isn't too much higher than 1.5v, but would that .15v make a difference?

I'm still leaning toward Mushkin for the tighter timings, even though they're $40 more. If I spend that money now will it make a difference in the long run?

No, 1.65V is perfect.

Honestly, I wouldn't pay an extra $40 for such minor timing improvements. The performance difference would be absolutely minuscule.

Couldn't of said it better myself, you won't notice a difference in regular use. Besides the Corsairs are;

A. Proven Support
B. Better Cooled
C. Cheaper
D. Last but not least, damn cool looking.
