Default Here's Hoping...

Here's hoping I haven't blown it again. I just ordered the following to go into my GA-P35-DS3L: Mushkin XP PC2-8000 Redline 4GB 2X2GB DDR2-1000 CL5-5-5-12.

Can anybody give me some encouraging words as far as compatibility? Thanks everyone.

Shouldn't have any trouble at all. The Redlines are good stuff, often don't need as much voltages as other sticks, and tend to have very few compatibility problems. Just double-check your mobo manual to make sure you use the correct pair of slots.

Just go into your bios and set the timings and other settings to what it says on the sticker, 5-5-5-12, 500mhz x 2 = 1000.

They'll work great, I found that they can even run well on less than stock voltage, it says 2.0 to 2.1 on the sticker but I have mine at 1.95 and run them at stock timings with 533mhz (x2=1066) and benched them/tested to full stability no problems at all. I could probably push them to 1100 on the recommended voltages (2.0ish) but I've been dealing with some folding errors so I set my comp to stock till I know whats causing them; but when it's done I'm gonna push my sticks a bit and see if I can't at least get close to 1100.

Just outta curiousity, why are you switching from your Ballistix to that Mushkin?

And i heartily recommend the Mushkin...just wondering.

Those would likely do a nice 4:5 ratio.

If you have your E8400 @ 9x422, that'd be DDR2-1055 :)
Or if you get really lucky, 3:4 (DDR2-1125)

Just to give you the background on this -n7-, I'll link you back to this thread.

Need Help - Random Re-Boot

I was having almost constant blue screens even without any OC. When the Mod on the Gigabyte forum said that the Ballistix 1066 just would not work well with my GA-P35-DS3L, I thought that I had better try something else.

I've been screwing with this issue for over two months now and I feel that I have exhausted every possible remedy that I or the collective group (HWC and other forums) could come up with.

I'm just at the point where I have to try something else and hope it works. I am hoping that because the Redlines run well at lower than 2.2v, the mobo may not have to supply as power and will be more stable. Just a theory for now.
