i7 980x

What's the going rate for this chip these days?

Never benched (so no LN2 or DICE, or anything to abuse it).

I picked one up last summer for $250 but that was an amazingly good deal. It's hard to judge because they're not available in retail channels any more (nor are the 6 core 970 non-extreme chips) but I'd think somewhere between $350 and $500 would be fair.

It would be tough to price. Easier to sell with a mobo I would think. Similar performance can be had from cheaper newer options. Still a great chip though.

Wide range but accurate. Should be an easy sell actually, since demand for the 980X remains fairly strong among enthusiasts. You'd get closer to the lower end of that range on forums, but you'd get closer to the higher end of that range if you're willing to deal with ebay.

It depends on the application, 6 real cores @ 4G + another 6 HT cores is hard to beat for things like FAH SMP folding without getting into MP rigs. That said.... if I had to pay more than $350 - $400 I'd definitely be looking at a new proc on a different platform instead.

That's a keeper I will not sell mine for sure.

There's a forum member selling one with a Mobo for $550 right now, so take a bit off for that and you should/could get $300-450.

I'd even be interested :)

If I'm not mistaking his motherboard is scrap or have something and he give it for free.

Not to hijack a thread, but the board in my FS thread is fully operational and in mint condition.

I figure a 980X is worth the $350-$375 range. To be honest one of my favorite chips I have ever had.

turtle, I was thinking about the member who have an Intel motherboard, I remeber he said something wrong with the motherboard.
