My System Specs

Default SABERTOOTH X58 and Intel Core i7 i7-980 3.33 GHz Processor

Buddy of mine just got a LGA2011 System and said if I need the cash for all the help I've given him I could sell these and we split the profit. whats a price on them he says the i7 980 is new in box as he was using a 990 ES but didnt get the ES till the day after he paid and ordered the 980?

So sealed 980 and used X58 Sabertooth.
How much?

NIB 980? $650+ new at retail so I'd think $500 would be a fair request, but honestly, if I were going to spend that kinda cash on a proc for 1366 I'd either buy new with warranty or expect a pretty good deal on a non-retail one.

Do you know if it's a retail edge one? If so, there's no warranty at all, and as such I think folks have suggested $350-$400.

Someone was selling a 970 locally on craigslist for $200, and even then, it took about a week for him to sell it...that's because I didn't want to drive 60km to buy it, of course. I'd say $350 at most, even though it's bnib.

Seeing as its a 980 and not a 980x, i would say $350-400
For the sabertooth, $130. I bought mine for $50 but that was a steal, although someone on the RFD forums has been trying to sell a sabertooth for 120 for a few weeks now

Yeah, enthusiast gear (and the 980 is still enthusiast even if it's not an "X" proc) doesn't hold it's resale value all that well, but it does tend to hold it's performance value pretty long.

If he's going to hang onto it, and doesn't have an extra set of tri-channel mem to go with it, now would be a good time to pick one up before they start getting split up into dual channel +1 kits. (I've seen quite a few tri channel 6Gig kits recently).
