My System Specs

Default Q9550, eVGA 780i, Mushkin 2x2GB DDR2

Hi All:

I've been mulling over the possibility of upgrading to an i5 platform, so that I can take advantage of higher SATA speeds and TRIM with my new SSD.

I looked at eBay prices for Q9550s, and they seem absolutely nuts--anywhere from $150 buy it now to $300 auctions. What's a FAIR price for one of these now?

I'd also be hoping to bundle the mobo (a eVGA 780i) and some Mushkin RAM with it (2x2GB--would have to look up the model & specs, but they're fairly high end, IIRC).

Thoughts?

High ENd Yes, A few years ago.

The issue with the parts you wanna sell, You can buy I3/I5 Stuff For close to same price as People are asking for these parts.

I still See 780I fetching 80-100$, FOr that much Money Their is a few I5 Boards.

The CPU should get you 110-150 On these forums.

You might get lucky and find someone that wants to upgrade thier 775 system.

Most of that junk on ebay never sells.

I would think you'd get in the range of 220-250 as a combo but yeah... the prices of 775 stuff is oddly high when you can build a 2500k+mobo+ram for 350 bucks off of NCIX right now.

I'd say the CPU is worst a good chunk, maybe 150. The RAM should get you about 35-40. You might get 75 for the mobo, but personally I wouldn't pay more than $20 for an nvidia motherboard :P

Thanks for the input guys!

Still haven't quite convinced myself, but it's nice to get a realistic view on the price. Ebay is nuts--and I know that a lot of that stuff never sells, but I was looking only at completed listings that DID sell...which is why I was so blown away. That said, I've sworn never to sell on ebay again, so I imagine it will come though this forum if I do decide to sell.

Thanks again!

Not worth honestly selling anymore. Make a htpc or fileserver.

dont sell them together. You can get easily 100 for the mobo at minimum. Q9550 easily 100-125 if its a C0, D0 stepping around 150-160. Ram, 40 bucks maybe. But if you sell them together, you will never get more than 200. I highly recommend selling them separately. I sold 2 Q9550's E0 and C0 and thats how much I got for them.

Everyone know is buying combos for 1155 as they are around 350 or so new. That's why it's best to sell in pieces as there are some people out there still with some sort of 775 set up who would love to upgrade!

Good luck.

You know, for as bad a rep as they've got, I've never had a single problem with mine, and I've been running it since Nov. 2008. Single GPU, SLI, two different CPUs, and significant overclocking without missing a beat. Mind you, I got it from Linus, so maybe it's an uber-model :)
