how much is a i7 965 worth these days? I can buy one from a fellow coworker and tbh dont know if its that much better than any other d0

the cheapest on ebay is 600 so offer a 500$. if he is not giving it up you might want to wait a bit till the lga2011 cpus become more abundant and get one of those, the 3930k is 600$ on newegg.ca

Totally agree. I've read a lot of posts where people got better oc with some D0 920 than the 965 C1. And for 500$, at least get a six core, i bought my 970 for 400$ and i think that the 32nm process is TOTALLY worth it, let alone the performance boost in folding.

Not worth much in my eyes, grab a cheap 920 or go for a hexcored 970.
