Tried it a little yesterday, so far I like the speed, omni box and the start page is alright too. Read the whole comic and what they say makes a lot of sense but I am not a developer per se. I don't mind the memory usage as that's what it is there for. I like the seperate process idea, makes sense to me. As time passes it will have more user created add-ons and better features just like FF. So far a Sadly this will do nothing to take users away from IE and only split those who already use an alternate browser. As a web designer I don't need another browser to hack away at code for. I haven't had any issues yet with it and since it's still beta I'll reserve my comments. But I hope I don't need to be thinking about more compatibility problems when it goes mainstream.

I am not a programmer or developer but I have to create and work with code everyday, and it has to work across a large cross section of users. I fear that Chrome will not be making my job any easier. And as I said.... Chrome will not be taking IE users away from IE. It will only be splitting the users who are already using FF or other browser.

Yes I agree... IE sucks for coding. But sadly IE holds 80% of the market. I prefer to code on FF as it has some good web dev goodies and is definitely more standards compliant. Sadly my pages are often broken in some way on IE and I have to hack and slash the code to get them to look right. But FF is a whopping 15% of web users. Chrome will only fragment 20% of web users from 15% FF, 5% other to some other figure. I don't think IE will die anytime soon. MS has no incentive to be more strict with that kind of domination? But I optimistically agree with you, maybe another browser will spur a stricter compliance among all in the future?

Here's my thoughts. Chrome is VERY similar to firefox so the transition from firefox to chrome will be VERY negligible. So now if they can get all the proper addons and small things fixed in Chrome I could see it becoming fairly popular due to its small footprint memory wise and disk space wise. Oh and themes for Chrome won't be hard; the UI is contained in a single DLL file and if I felt obligated I may do it.. but I don't hahah. Themes already: -> [theme] Google Chrome - "PitchBlack" - WinMatrix

Just tried it and the message says: "Chrome has crashed". Might still be some issues to work out.
