Heres another vote for putting it in Ontario. Getting stuff you order in a couple days is nice but I'd rather save the PST, 7 percent here in BC.

Chances are they will probably base it out of the GTA. Well it looks like I'll be price matching at NCIX with New Egg cause I really don't feel like paying 8% PST unless it's a really good smoking deal.

Amen to that...

But to be honest, I see Ncix pre-empting this newegg move by lowering prices a tad. They already have a good business model in place as well as a loyal consumer base, so I'd see them making first move changes to add "added Value" in the mind of the consumer, to help aid the decision process of staying with NCIX.....

God I love marketing

Hmm, imo, it will be a good list to canadian sites (ncix, tigerdirect, directcanada & memoryexpress). And competition is always good I guess :)

Cool, another winnipegger :)
To be honest, I'm still surprised there hasn't been a major retailer to set up shop in Winnipeg due to our location in the country. There are two main disadvantages here though, one being the fact that we have a very little population base and two being the fact that we are not close to the pacific ocean, so items would need to be shipped to us, then back to people on the coast, thus increasing the cost of doing business.

The existing local shops are not trustworthy from what I've heard and they are just out to get your money. For example, my friends brother walked into the store and they told him a Asus Formula Maximus would be the best motherboard for his needs. There were two problems with that recommendation.
1. He was using a nVidia GPU, so a P35 chipset would have been sufficient.
2. The guy doesn't know what overclocking means, let alone actually do it.
Can someone say overkill? Also, I was in there the other day, the store rep. stated one of the motherboards had a onboard GPU........ the guy came back super pissed off because the motherboard didn't have a onboard GPU (it was a 680i chipset) and they refused to take a refund for their mistake. So in short, the guy was forced to shell out more cash for a GPU. Smart buisness plan they have going on there......

Then they also suckered my friends brother into a bunch of other stuff, his 1500$ PC, would have cost less then 1200 at NCIX and he would have gotten higher quality parts.

@James
Your buddy's brother does not do a good job of complaining...I am a really reasonable guy and I don't usually cause trouble, but I would have confronted the person who sold it to me and really caused a stink, even to the point of making a scene if I had to.

Unless of course the guy misunderstood...hard to find a computer tech/salesperson who thinks a 680i board would have onboard video.

Sounds like your town needs a new source for computer parts as this company is taking you guys out to the cleaners. Shipping to Winnipeg from Toronto shouldn't take too long though so even if newegg sets up shop in Toronto you should still get fast shipping and no PST.

Yup we do. CBIT and Computer Avenue stink and I don't think I'll step foot inside their doors anymore, unless I need a case. Even then, I think I'll just wait for a shipping promo from NCIX.

Man, I can't wait until this is finalized! Maybe NCIX will be motivated into actually getting around to posting details about their products on their website.

I just might die of joy if that happens :)

But, yeah, I wouldn't be at all surprised if they setup shop in Toronto.
