Default NCIX and Direct Canada removed from PC Part Picker

https://www.reddit.com/r/bapcsalesca...c_part_picker/

There's some comments from the guy who runs PC Part Picker in the thread. They've pulled the sites from the listings due to overwhelmingly negative user feedback.

Looks like Reddit is potentially removing them from the list of recommended retailers too.

Combined with the very extensive creditor issue rumors, I'm suspecting we're nearing the end of NCIX, or at least of it being anything other than a tiny husk of what it was.

On the upside PC Part Picker is going to try and get Mike's and Canada computers on their lists.

I had a two week ordeal with them that in the end, involved me cancelling my entire order. Huge lack of communication. Poor CS (nothing new, of course, but particularly so.) - and I price matched every item, now that I think about it.

I don't really think they're going to be missed.

Saw on Reddit today that the Surrey store has (apparently) been closed... looks like I won't be using the rest of my free gift card.

Thank you for this post. The thread is definitely worth the read. Now it makes sense why they have a lot of parts I have been looking at on "Back Order". 2 to 3 years ago NCIX was decent to deal with, but it looks like poor management has taken the company down - https://www.reddit.com/user/exncix.

I suspect you're right FreeKnight but it is a bummer. I have many great purchases from NCIX over the years. Sorry to see this happening to them.

NCIX was my go to for about a decade or so, but I have had issues with them the last few years as well, so have gone to other retailers. I see that the bulk of their youtube channel staff has either left or been fired.

Just makes me that much more happy to see that memory express is expanding and renovating stores. As long as they stick around and keep UPB policy, I am covered :)

Yes, I am selfish :)

How accurate is Memory Express' stock checker? Richmond store was too far away for me before, but they've opened a store in Langley.

Pretty damn accurate in my experience. Only time I got burned it was low stock and it sold before I arrived. Now I phone ahead and have them put it aside for me as I live about 40 minutes away, and they are always happy to do so. I offten email ahead with a price for them to beat to confirm they will accept. They usually confirm they can do it assuming the deal doesn't close or go out of stock at that price before I arrive. Very smooth operation, and I hope it continues.

I just got a 1700x for $440 and a Crosshair VI hero for well under $300. Was super easy.

Edit: I have had good luck ordering online as it is usually free shipping, and have ever done the nine payment and pickup in store. All around good service.

What about HWC? IIRC its owned by, though its run idependently from, NCIX. I would hate to lose the community here :/
