Google transforming into SkyNet is my best guess.

Their recent acquisitions over the past year are slightly concerning too, a lot of focus on robotics and various forms of automation in both homes and transportation.

SkyNet seems a very feasible possibility

I don't know about Skynet. Spynet would be my guess.

I can see this going the way of Maps, YouTube, Chrome and pretty much everything else Google touches these days. It will be launched with a perfect blend of style, features and potential.

Then, two years later, they'll try to upgrade the plumbing and in doing so, burn the place down by mistake.

Heh... sounds like the latest update request from hangouts... wanted the authority to send unprompted emails to all of my contacts so rather than going through with the update I forced a stop and blocked it all together.

On a positive note, sounds like there might be some changes to google+ so maybe they're getting the idea that folks don't want to hand out the kind of privacy blank cheque that Google is promoting.
