I hope to hell that they open source it. I'm sure about 48 different branches of it will be created. To be honest I'm really surprised by this, but I guess there just isnt a lot of money to be made off an application like this? Seems strange with games and other iOS/Android apps selling 'productivity', 'game' and other apps for a couple bucks each.

Better go get my last download of the pro version :(

Foobar user checking in. Once you find a skin or layout that works for you, you'll never use anything again. Until that point, I completely understand the frustration.

I crossed over to Foobar from Winamp about 3-4 years ago. Sad to see Winamp go, however. Hopefully they do the right thing and release it open source instead of just cutting its head off.

I haven't used Winamp in ages now. Stuck with the 280 version forever and never really bothered with version 5. Currently using Aimp (AIMP - Free Music Player) as it's a great little player, supports Winamp skins and constantly being worked on. Tried foobar years ago but was too much a pain in the ass for little to no return.

Thanks for the heads up guys. I just downloaded a backup copy.

I'm really surprised that AOL is still around. Probably has something to do with the fact that 1 in 4 Grams are still clinging to all those free installer discs they've horded over the years.

They also own Endgadet, so having a tech news site does generate a lot in ad revenue.
