AMD reports another hefty loss: $358 million in Q1
Sunnyvale (CA) - AMD today reported another painful quarterly loss today in what the company called a “difficult start into the year”. Losses occurred across all business units, with the missing Barcelona an “increased consumer exposure” being blamed on a loss of $358 million. Over the past six quarters, AMD has lost $4.3 billion.
It's nobody's fault but their own. Their products just didn't perform as well as the competition.
The loss isn't that bad considering previous quarters and don't forget they weren't shipping any Opteron's during that quarter, now that B3 silicon is available they'll be able to sell processors in the server market, dual and quad socket-able processors don't represent a big part of sold processors but profit-wise it's a very important market.
