ASUS: Building the Nexus 7 was “Torture”

I'm surprised that they didn't ask Samsung or do it themselves via Motorola.

I like this, they are pushing their limits and stepping up their game. Their engineering department is becoming more embedded, and running a stricter schedule. Hopefully their production chain becomes more integrated and tight as well. If they do this, they will truly make Apple do a double-take. Maybe one day google with do their own WWDC with ASUS top execs on stage.

It's kinda like the iPod nano, the engineers went to hell and back to bring a new level of thinness for a mp3 player, and the fact that their production chain is so streamlined made it all possible.
