What I mean't is a Californian judge banned a foreign company from competing against a company from California. How convenient.

Remember a couple things about america that are different than Canada.

#1 Elected judges

#2 Corporations have many of the same rights as people

#3 Money, at least the act of giving it to campaigns is considered an act of free speech in america now

Someone is going to get a generous campaign donation from apple, and this is 100% legal in the states :)

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 US sales ban awarded in Apple patent case

Looks like the whole thing was blown out of proportion...

Quote:
Sales of Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 10.1 Android tablet have been banned in the United States by U.S. District Court Judge Lucy Koh. ”Although Samsung has a right to compete, it does not have a right to compete unfairly, by flooding the market with infringing products,” Koh said in her ruling on Tuesday, Reuters reported. The ban marks one of the first major victories for Apple in the U.S. as it continues to bombard rivals with patent complaints. Apple’s win isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, however: Samsung plans to appeal the decision, of course, and this ban only affects the Galaxy Tab 10.1, a tablet that was introduced more than a year ago. Samsung has already unveiled a newer version of the device — the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 — which is not impacted by Judge Koh’s ruling. Retailers will also be permitted to sell off their remaining Galaxy Tab 10.1 inventory, so Samsung won’t take a hit on units that have already been shipped to distribution partners.
