Default AMD and GlobalFoundries Part Ways

AMD announced early Monday that it is divesting of its remaining stake in GlobalFoundries, the chip manufacturing partner that it had originally spun off in 2009.

Nothing really changes right now because they have been operating essentially independently for a while now. Today was just the "full" leave per say. Global Foundries is now an independent foundry like TSMC.

They worked with TSMC to produce their 28nM gpus. One might assume that their next CPU line will follow the same route.

It's not that AMD will stop using globalfoundries for their CPU's, it's just that now they're not tied to Globalfoundries, and have the option of going somewhere else.
