Well considering he was illegally detained (kind of heresay but really they have no evidence on him directly) it isn't surprising that they would deny him bail.

No, he wasn't illegally detained in any way. New Zealand was acting on a request from American authorities. Since New Zealand has an extradition treaty with the United States this was a perfectly legal exercise.

The U.S has no evidence that he has done anything illegal, had SOPA/PIPA passed sure he could be arrested and his site brought down but the U.S really has no case against him and they are trying to prove a point.

It's like saying me detaining you isn't illegal because I think what you do is wrong and I want to scare people into conforming to my wishes.

unfortunately he's charged with a wrongdoing, so they have to go through the legal processes.

take the time to read through that, I am not a lawyer but to me the arguements seem pretty thin. I am very interested in seeing how this one plays out.

On a side note I love how they always make astronomical claims about how much money they have lost and how many people are out of work as result of copyright infringements. "At a cost of $500,000,000" I always wonder where they get data like that from.

I agree that some of the claims seem rather absurd, but Mr. Schmitz/Dotcom was profiting handsomely from copyright infringement.

It'll play out however the media wants it to since they are the ones who run America.

They think that for every song download they are out the price of an entire CD when in fact many artists wouldn't even be big at all if it wasn't for downloads. I know a few artists i've found that I like thanks to someone posting it on youtube. I wont buy cd's even if they ever did manage to get rid of downloadable music so my downloads dont count as lost revenue.
