I suppose you could have a problem if you wanted to throw in 2 of these cards and a sound card and a wireless network card and a raid card!!

And there is the drawback to these coolers, I have 2x 6970 installed in a P67 sabertooth, leaving me 1 pciex1 slot open.

They are a great cooler but yeah sucks eating up your other slots, though i was well aware of this going into them.

I think it's good to have a heatsink like this around. Sometimes better temps and silence are the object in a case, other people might need the slots for other stuff. It has its place, but naturally isn't ideal for some builds.
