Really? Sandy bridge will be EOL that early? Ivy Bridge must be something else!

No, SB is not EOL, just some of the Pentium chips that have already been replaced.

Was the 970 EOL'd before this? Surprised to not see it here.

But yeah, ST summed it up pretty well. Whoopdeedoo.

Those Pentium SB were rather crappy chips, good for basic home use, but you kinda needed a gpu if you wanted any kind of hd playback even on youtube (720p or higher).

This probably means that as soon as the Intel exec signs the execution order, a little army of electrons will make it's way through the matrix and fry your processor. The computerized version of the electric chair. You'll be forced to by SB-E. No wonder Intel is so successful. It's got nothing to do with innovation and quality products: They just render their product obsolete every four monthes.

Pretty sure the 970 was EOL'd at the beginning of the summer, a lot of people were hoping for super cheap 970 around christmas to clear stock.

But yeah overall this news really isn't exciting.

Maybe they had to make room in their current catalog for all of those weird low power mobile procs they've been selling to OEMs for sub-$400 laptops? (B series IIRC)
