All have 4 dimms but the UD5. You would think that they would at least give 8 to the UD7. You can use the extra memory for ram disk, ram cache and so on so they are missing out on that.

I like GB"s colour scheme...everyting except that G1 Assassin....I'm sorry but a heatsink that looks like a gun is just useless and eccentric..

I kind of feel like the VRM heatsinks are a little wimpy, especially if x79 is an enthusiast platform and the heatsinks no longer being close to the rear exhaust.

As for the the looks, that curvy spikey sexy chipset heatsink is beautiful.

The all black UD3 has got to be my favorite but with my previous comment on the VRM cooling I can't help but notice the heatpipe to the big chipset cooler is missing.

With Gigabyte's new digital PWM, less heat is produced so there isn't a need for extensive VRM heatsinks.

I just remember my first gigabyte board, a MA770-ud3, and I touched the VRM cooler while it was running and it had to have been ~80c dilivering power to a low end dual core and I wondered what that would do to the lifespan of the board. So I always look for a little more cooling on my mobos.

GB's new color are nice. I also kinda like those board. Enough SATA ( sometime wierdly placed ) enough of every thing IMO. But, I don't understand ( like every one ) why the UD5 have so much ram slot?
Good job GA.

Socket 2011 is the high end enthusiast + server platform. There are lots of applications that can benefit from 8X8GB = 64GB of RAM, plus the uses mentioned by Eldonko above. The RAM will run in 4 channel (socket 1366 = 3 channel, socket 1155 = 2 channel) with apparently ridiculously good bandwidth.

You got it bang on, with quad everything now needs multiples of 4.
Hopefully it won't be too much tweaking to get all the RAM running right on the board. Though the new layout of the DIMM slots is going to frustrate a lot of Air Cooler owners I can Imagine.
Thankfully with the advent of Sealed WC units that will be a smaller frustration.

Yeah those ones Intel will be selling for x79 look interesting. Curious of the performance.
