Gigabyte has some very nice X79 boards. Though, I thought that the (edit) 1366 G1 was tacky, now Gigabyte's G1 A2 designed takes the cake. This mobo was obviously targeted for the "more money than brains" market segment. Personally, I would rather take a board with an engineering sample/OEM PCB, then this creation, I guess I am getting old for this tacky stuff. Some kids out there are probably drooling over this thing.

GB finally gets rid of the rainbow bright scheme and move to this?

So far really unimpressed with the sneaks of any X79 boards (although I haven't been hawk-eyeing). Too few Sata ports, 4 dimms, stupid heatsinks no USB 3 on chipset, makes me want to pass more than I should.

Probably wasnt the real board, hence no full photo. Im betting the final has 8 dimms.

Well even the older shots with a different heatsink design only have 4 DIMMs. Seems only the UD5 will have 8 DIMMs.

Not a huge deal I guess, 16GB is plenty, and possibly 32GB in the near future when 8GB DIMMs start appearing.

My main question is, has Gigabyte finally adopted a full UEFI BIOS or are they still sticking to their hybrid-version instead? Seems ASUS is the only one who's really pushing UEFI and actively developing and improving upon it.

You have more behind-the-scenes access than I do, so you'd have more luck finding the actual details
