AMD Announces HD3800 Price Drops

AMD called us to announce new prices for the Radeon HD 3850 512 MB and HD 3870. In the USA tonight (and everywhere else soon after), e-tailer prices for the HD 3870 should drop from $245 to $189; The price of the HD 3850 512 MB should drop from $199 to $169.

Could this mean that something new is coming in the graphics world? Stay tuned.

That's a major price drop on the 3870 - 4x3870 CrossfireX for $756!

I think the reason is that AMD probably wants to stay competitive with the 9600GT, which will be lower than the current prices of the 3850 but faster too.

$190 for a 3870 has WIN written all over it. That's an awesome deal! But why bother with the 3850 if it's only $20 cheaper? It should be like $150 not $170.
