Default Red Ring of Death bites MS in the butt...LIVE

Thought you guys would get a kick out of this:

MS showcases Red Ring of Death Xbox 360 at expo | Reg Hardware

After having two family members suffer the same fate from their rushed and underdeveloped consoles, all I can say is....ouch.

"The video will make uncomfortable viewing for Microsoft bosses because the hardware headache has already cost the company more than $1bn (500m/€650m)."

That's just sick!

Bill Gates could pay that without it even taking a bite out of his wallet.

It's likely cooled improperly in that case. Honestly, of many friends with 360s (and myself included) I've never seen anyone with them. From the very earliest ones to my new 65nm one with HDMI.

Nother one at the same show RRoD'd.....

I too have a launch 360, no issues yet...

I feel that a lot of them are due to improper cooling situations, people stick them in cabinets, or stack then on/under other stuff and then get pissy. I know some don't but some have to...

I think that's usually what it is too. I have a friend that has had the issue (RRoD) with a few of them, and it never seemed to dawn on him that it was always really hot inside the closed glass cabinet that it was in. But that was somehow Microsoft making a crappy product.
Which isn't to say that MS isn't cutting the thermals a little close on the consoles.
