Samsung HDD's weren't real popular to us ppl. they had more market in system builders (dell, hp, the likes of them), but i guess it wasn't enough

Well my 1TB Spinpoint F1 is still going strong, a shame we are basically down to a duopoly. Though I guess with SSDs becoming more affordable it was somewhat expected.

It could be worse. At least in the coming years mechanical drives will be less important in our computers. Still, less competition and choice is always bad.

I beg to difer.

Mechanical drives will be VERY much used in a lot of systems for MANY years to come.

Sorry but SSD just isn't up to par on reliability yet.

What?! Nooooo

I hate Seagate after having a bunch of 1TB drives die on me (3 total all within weeks of each other). I switched to basically all Samsung drives as I find them to be faster and cheaper than WD Blacks. They also don't seem to have any of this TLER stuff or aggressive spin-down policies.

Well in that case, Newegg.ca has F3 1TBs on sale today. Better stock up ;) Newegg.ca - SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 HD103SJ 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive
