Sandy Bridge Based Xeon's E3/E7, up to 10cores/20threads
Intel's new E7 Xeon chips include 10-core option

I'm not a news junkie, but read this and immedietly thought "thats one heck of a folding chip"

Eldonko April 7, 2011 01:02 PM

Only 5 grand per chip, sweet

4DoorGTZ April 7, 2011 01:15 PM

yeah $5k for the 10 core I think is the replacement for the 7500series of xeons, there's gotta be a sweet pricepoint in the middle there with maybe their fastest 6 core that would be usefull for folders and not datacentres.

Or we can all just rejoice in hoping that this means the current x5600 series will keep coming down in price :)

Press Release & Tech News
Yeah, only about $5500 each with taxes.

Do you think we can get enough members together to buy a 1000 lot? hehe
