Best Buy and other companies' email lists compromised [Toronto Star]

I got an email today from Best Buy, indicating that its email list of email addresses and full names have been leaked (I think its mainly their 'Reward Zone' contacts). Seems that they did indeed have my email info leaked.

That said, here is a Toronto Star story on this as well:

“Being able to send a targeted phishing message to a bank customer and personally address them by name will certainly result in a much higher ‘hit rate’ than a typical ‘blind’ spamming campaign would yield,” Internet security website SecurityWeek.com said. “So having access to this information will just help phishing attacks achieve a higher success rate.”

I just wonder, what kind of people make this phishing scam BS, seriously. How big of a low-life degenerate a-hole do you have to be? I bet even corporate lawyers and lobbyist look down on them with pity and shame.
