This just convinces me that we'll see Intel 6 cores on socket 2011 for $300. Hurry up Intel!

if amd brings 8 cores(times two) on the desktop front at 300 and it matches the 6 core(with ht) intel?

they wont be able to sell them much more expensive. well they can because of ppl who have preference and so on but still.

I'd be quite happy to find an i7 970 that will clock to 4.2+... for $400. Maybe when 1356/2011 arrives

Wink

I just ordered a PC with the Core i7-950 last week and now Intel drops the price of the i7-960. Oh well, I'll have increased RAM so the new PC will have similar performance to a Sandy Bridge unit anyway.

The i7 970 wished it dropped further. Its at the price point that it should have been at launch (at least IMO).
