"Put 2 of those in CrossFire"

Someone has too much disposable income. I'd go water cooling anyway.

No HDMI = fail. This thing is probably going to be noisy as well.

I think AMDs single blower reference cooler needs to be updated. I wonder what this card will be like when it finally gets released.

If this is the case, and the price isnt a good selling point to buy one of these, then ill wait and buy two non-referense 6970s and OC the crap outta them.
I'm with you, if you have a decent 8x/8x mobo, you'd better go with two 69** in crossfire than one of those monster, especially if the price of that 6990 is higher than dual 6950...

But at the same time, if (somehow) the 6990 outperforms two 6950s AND is cheaper than buying 2? That would make a huge difference.

True CM, but with the common issues of Dual GPU cards. I would still opt for 2 6950's (I plan on it having 1 already) vs a Dual GPU card.

Only time I would go for one is nVidia and that is only for Folding. As their somewhat shaky designs are unaffected by that.

Hopefully at least one of the companies will package this with some combination of mini dp to dp, mini dp to dvi and mini dp to hdmi dongles.

Default eagerly waiting...

omg I want these cross-fired so bad! so close, yet so far...

they better be 6970 cores after all this wait! or atleast perform better than the 5970... they must perform 30% better or I am going to hunt down two asus ares or xfx black edition 5970's.

What's with all those DP ports?! Don't they know most people's monitors take DVI and HDMI?! At least bundle in some conversion adapters! And what's with the tiny single fan? The Radeon 6000 series cards do run relatively cool for their performance but come on - even a single 6870 was audible at mid load. How is that little fan supposed to keep up with TWO, faster, hotter cores?!
