They've done this before, and with an OEM only model too. Mostly their GPU chips. and only a few times...

My System Specs


It kind of sucks but I am not at all surprised. The 6xxx are just a hold over until 28nm is good to go. IMO they just needed to refresh to be a bit more competitive with NVidia's newer products. 7xxx should have an upgrade for the lower end folks like myself.
