Default CES 2011: Sapphire Shows Fusion APU, HD 5570 Xtend & Set Top Box

Considering Sapphire is an AMD-centric company, they didn't have that much new to display that we can discuss without breaking NDA. With that being said, the coming months should some interesting graphics cards from them and the acquisition of most of EVGA's motherboard development team means major moves on that side of things as well....

I like the board so far! 5 SATA, 2 mem slot and a card slot for WIFI or some SSD that can use it. Paired with the PCI-e I think this board is a fait winner for next years HTPC.

I think the main issue with AMD's new APUs is a lack of driver support at this point. The paper launch was pulled forward, the drivers aren't ready and board manufacturers are actually pushing back their products to early Feb / late Jan. :(

So EVGA lost most of its MB dev team to them?

What does that mean for Future EVGA products?
And what does that mean for what Sapphire is bringing to the forefront?

Yes. It means that EVGA has a new mobo team (hence why they are a bit behind on the P67 front) but from all the indicators I have seen, their upcoming boards retain the same quality standards as the previous generation.

Good to know Skymtl, thank you.

Question now is why does Sapphire need a MB dev team in the first place?

Yeah the Evga note caught my attention the most as well. I think I'll still stay away from the first few boards they produce.

Because they will be releasing high end AM3+, X58 and P67 boards.

Although I am a little leary (once bitten, twice shy) of Sapphire being a new Motherboard partner, it is good to know we will finally get some more life infused in the market. Competition is good, and if they have the Dev Team from EVGA that is even better. Thank you for the info!
