those are old and outdated the 9800 GTX and other 9800 cards are only suppose to be a die shrink with probably only a few new things like the G92 cards,

Ooh, I like that eDRAM. And the matrix math stuff looks interesting as well.

But is it just me, or does Nvidia's numbering scheme sort of suck? 9800X2 based on 8000 series cores, shouldn't that be the 8850 or something?

its ugly. it looks like a big black brick. They need to make it look better, imo.

I think it looks great. I am one of those people who get pissed off about the design of things nowadays being bulky, bubbly, wasteful, and all around ugly.
I will be disappointed if they slap a huge sticker on that thing like they and their competitors do so often.

I think the 9800GTS will be a killer deal if it sells for $450. Think, you get two 8800GTS 512mb cards in one! Sounds like a deal to me!

Well, if this comes out before my step-up expires, I might consider it.

I am also watching the development of the 3870x2, which could potentially give me 4xCrossfire (CrossfireX??)

I think my motherboard supports that...

Well there are rumors that the 9800 X2 card will be called 8900 X2 and the 9800 GTX will be more powerful just like the 8800 GTX was more powerful then the 7900 X2

Yeah- it seems like we're into a hard-to-decide-when-to-upgrade kind of stage. When the 8 series came out it weas a no brainer- then when the GT came along it was again a no brainer, but it seems were getting into limbo again- take the latest rehash of the existing technology, or wait until march?

Well for me it won't be hard...

It will be "take the latest technology available on the last day of my Step-Up from EVGA"
