I think nVidia's price drops fell to just about the right level to keep sales alive.
The GTX 460 1gb is still a darn good card especially when I see them advertised for under $200 ($172 ar at NE).
That's ~ a $50 gap compared to the HD 6870 which to some might make all the difference.
I do wonder what kind of hit nVidia is taking with their margins though. That has got to hurt big time .

Better to sell something than to not sell at all.

pretty much so. but in the end competition on their level means much better prices for us. look at used 5850 prices. :)

These price drops have got to be hurting Nvidia, but, as someone told me, they're more concerned about maintaining market share. I wonder how their manufacturers and resellers feel though?

Hopefully there'll be some $200-250 before or after rebate 470 by Christmas/boxing day, must tri-sli!

Thread Cleaned, sorry if some of your posts are missing but I had to delete that as they were quoted and pertaining to the issue that I felt was un-necessary to this thread.

Thank you in advance for your understanding,

ST

I don't think we will be seeing $250 5870's anytime soon since that's the price for a 6870 at a 4% decrease in performance.

Wishful thinking though
