I didn't really follow how this heatsink stays away from tall memory heatspreaders.

Large but not that big. So in standard E/W orientation the 120MM fan is far enough from the ram to allow you to put G.skill trident or such big ram. Let's wait for a review to see how they do with AMD N/S orientation!

picture a one inch thick block of wood.ok its wider than that but compared to other modern coolers its a slim beauty. there's enough space on each side
