they want to differentiate themselves from the 'classic' tower or twin tower design. will it work? i dont know. and for the price? it better beat the hr-02 with a 140mm fan :)

Yeah, this'll definitely need to get tested. The surprisingly high Q-max, coupled with the "composite heatpipe" kind of jump out. If those features are nothing special, ditto for this fan.

I suppose I will be one of a few in the majority who actually is looking forward to this.
Not only for the colour but for the slight heatpipe redesign.

I have used Zalman's CNPS lineup on and off since the 939 days (CNPS9000).

Some of them are pretty decent, I will make some observations from my experiences at least.

1)You can get better for the same price
2) The integrated Fan is actually really decent, and it is quiet espically used in PWM mode. The heatsink being made of pure copper does make it a really effective heat dump.
3) Mounting is very user friendly , a lot more than other heatsinks.
4) Its design does not impede any placement of RAM.

Personally I will get this, because of the two 9900 I own now, I would love to see a direct comparision and see if this Heatpipe design really pans out or not. I ignore the marketing BS and await the actual Results up close.

My thoughts,

Wink Unlike most comment posters..

I do like the design, and if it works (it does), why not keep trying to max out it's potential?
Like Porsche with the 911 for example :P
I had a CNPS9900 NT which maybe didn't matched the performance of a Noctua DH14
(got close though), but in silence/performance ratio, I've never seen anything like that. Seriously.

It's true that this design is getting old but If it works why change it ? Actually, all the tower style design are not much more original, they pretty much look the same from one to the other. I personally never owned a Zalman cooler but I have read quite a few comments from users and they seem to like it and by happy with their purchase. Well as someone previously said it needs to be put to the test and show what its got.

At the end of the Day, this cooler does exactally what it was designed to do.

Good, I think I'll have to get one.
