According to the description, it seems like a Agility 2 / Vertex 2 without the "unlocking IOPS" firmware isnt'it?
I wonder how cheap they gonna be. Funny thing is: Vertex 2 is selling for cheaper than Agility 2 here at most etailers, probably because they're selling more of the high-end part than the mainstream.
It was pretty much the same situation with Vertex (1) / Agility (1), where the Vertex was selling a lot more.

Onyx seems to have a two year warranty and they might not pack the 2.5 to 3.5 inch bracket...

It's essentially the same thing as the Agility 2.

However it has a shorter warranty, lower cost NAND flash is being used, and the supply will probably be restricted, like one major retailer per region only.

I don't know the exact numbers, but these drives will be the most affordable SF-1222 drives, and by a noticeable amount.

I wish this came in 3.5 inch form factor. I have a full tower case and anything made for a smaller form factor makes me mad.

Hopefully this is just a case of pre-release pricing variance, because while I'll buy Bao's "noticeable amount", this isn't what I'd call "knocking socks off", Linus.

Newegg.ca - OCZ Vertex 2 OCZSSD3-2VTX120G 3.5" 120GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Newegg.ca - OCZ Agility 2 OCZSSD2-2AGTE120G 2.5" 120GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Also by way of perspective, I just grabbed a 120GB Vertex for $199 last week, no MIR involved. Yes, it can be argued that the Sandforce is a stronger controller, but the Barefoot is far from being a slouch. And since I'm still running Vista, I was looking for more robust firmware garbage collection.

Oh don't worry too much about that $249 price on NCIX just yet. It's just a placeholder. Based on what we discussed at yesterday's sales meeting... it's going to be very nice ;)

edit > don't believe that these drives come with the 3.5 inch adapters. But I am sure NCIX can get a promo going bundling the brackets with these drives.
